St Giles Consort
Based in the village of Chalfont St Giles in Buckinghamshire, the St Giles Consort draws on experienced choral singers who either live in or close by the village or have a strong connection to music-making in and around the county.
The chamber choir, directed by Julian Parkin-Haig, specialises in music composed during the High Renaissance, Tudor, Jacobean and Baroque eras, without neglecting music composed since then. We have performed a wide range of music (see the programmes of our previous concerts) since our foundation in 2016, for the most part in the Parish Church of the village but also in London and Abingdon. In Summer 2022 we collaborated with Milton's Cottage in the village to perform settings of John Milton's works and works by his father. We also sang at the Buckinghamshire Council Memorial Service for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at St Mary's Church, Aylesbury on 17th September, 2022. Earlier this year we sang in Florence, gave a concert in the Parish Church to celebrate Byrd, Weelkes and Coronations and on Sunday 8th October sang Byrd's Mass for Four Voices in a liturgical setting in St Michael and All Angels, Beaconsfield. |
